Author Guidelines

Before You Submit

Please confirm that the following requirements have been satisfied:

The manuscript complies with all journal submission requirements.

The work is original, unpublished, and not currently under review by another journal.

All references have been verified for accuracy and completeness. URLs, DOIs, or other persistent links have been included where available.

All figures and tables are correctly numbered, titled, and cited within the text.

Necessary permissions have been obtained for photographs, datasets, copyrighted content, or any third-party materials included in the submission.

Eligibility for Submission

Wellbeing Futures: Innovation, Policy and Research welcomes:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Scholarly Essays
  • Theoretical Contributions
  • Other manuscripts relevant to the journal's aims and scope

Submitted work must be original and must comply with the journal's editorial, ethical, and publication standards.

Author Eligibility and Responsibilities

Individuals listed as authors should have made substantial contributions to one or more of the following:

  • Study conception and design
  • Data collection
  • Data analysis or interpretation
  • Methodological development
  • Manuscript preparation or revision

All authors are required to:

  • Approve the final manuscript version.
  • Agree to its submission.
  • Accept responsibility for the integrity of the work.

For multi-author submissions, one author must be designated as the Corresponding Author, who will act as the primary contact with the journal throughout the review and publication process. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be recognized in the Acknowledgements section.

Ethical and Publishing Standards

Originality Requirements

The journal only considers original work.

The following practices are prohibited:

  • Plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism
  • Duplicate publication
  • Data fabrication
  • Data falsification
  • Image manipulation intended to mislead
  • Any other form of academic misconduct

Disclosure of Competing Interests

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal interests that could influence the research. A dedicated Conflict of Interest statement must be included in every manuscript. Where no conflicts exist, authors should state: "The authors declare that there are no conflicts of interest related to this work."

Ethical Compliance

Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical requirements. Where relevant, authors should provide information regarding:

  • Ethical approval
  • Institutional review board approval
  • Participant consent
  • Data protection procedures

Funding Transparency

All financial support received for the research should be disclosed. The funding statement should include:

Name of funding body

Grant or award number (where applicable)

Example: "This research was supported by [Funding Agency Name] (Grant No. XXXX)."

 

Preparing Your Manuscript

Language Requirements

Manuscripts should be written in professional, grammatically correct English.

Recommended Length

No fixed word limit is imposed; however, manuscripts should be proportionate to the nature and scope of the study.

Section-by-Section Requirements

Title

The title should be concise, informative, and representative of the manuscript content.

Abstract

The abstract should:

Summarize the purpose of the study.

Briefly describe the methodology.

Present major findings.

Highlight key conclusions.

Recommended length: 250–300 words.

Subheadings should not be used.

Keywords

Provide between six and eight keywords that best describe the subject area and improve article discoverability.

Introduction

The introduction should:

Establish the context of the study.

Identify the research problem.

Explain the significance of the work.

State the objectives or research questions.

Abbreviations should be defined when first introduced.

For review articles, authors should provide a critical synthesis of existing literature rather than a simple summary of previous publications.

Materials and Methods

This section should provide sufficient detail to enable evaluation and replication of the research.

Include information relating to:

Study design

Participants or data sources

Materials and instruments

Procedures

Statistical methods

Analytical techniques

Where applicable, include statements concerning:

  • Funding support for research activities
  • Ethical approval
  • Informed consent

Results

Present findings in a clear and logical sequence.

Authors should:

Emphasize major outcomes.

Avoid duplication of data between text and tables.

Present findings accurately and concisely.

Discussion

The discussion should:

Interpret findings.

Explain their significance.

Compare results with existing knowledge.

Identify limitations where appropriate.

Results and Discussion may be combined if preferred.

Conclusion

Provide a concise summary of the principal findings and their implications.

Suggestions for future research may also be included.

Author Contributions

A contribution statement is required for all submissions.

Acknowledgements

Individuals or organizations that contributed to the work but do not qualify for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately.

References

Authors must ensure that:

Citations are accurate and complete.

Referencing follows APA or ASA style.

References and in-text citations correspond exactly.

Self-citations do not exceed 10% unless justified.

Appendices

Supporting material essential to understanding or reproducing the study may be included as appendices.

Examples include:

  • Survey instruments
  • Coding frameworks
  • Interview guides
  • Extended theoretical explanations

Appendices should be labeled sequentially (Appendix A, Appendix B, etc.).

Supplementary Files

Additional content that complements the article may be submitted separately, including:

  • Extended analyses
  • Additional figures and tables

Supplementary materials should be cited within the manuscript and will be published online alongside the article.

Formatting Requirements

Headings

Use a clear hierarchy of headings and subheadings. A maximum of three numbering levels is recommended: i.e. ,

Number consecutively.

Include descriptive captions.

Cite within the text.

Accepted formats: PDF, TIFF, JPEG, PPT, and Word.

Explain all abbreviations and symbols in the figure legend.

Tables

Number consecutively.

Cite all tables within the manuscript text.

Open Access and Article Processing Charges

The journal operates under a full Open Access publishing model, ensuring unrestricted access to all published content. An Article Processing Charge (APC) of GBP 330 becomes payable only after a manuscript has been accepted for publication. No submission fee or review fee is charged.
